Mrs J - Beach Party
When a VIP client bought out Lido Bambù in Monopoli for the day and built a techno/Berlin-style stage right on the sand, the brief called for something as unexpected as the setting itself: a tablescape that felt less like beach decor and more like a glimpse of the sea floor.
At the center of it all was Jatropha: a flower that barely reads as a flower, its coral-red branching structure closer to a marine organism than a bloom. Across five buffet tables, the installation surfaced quietly among the dishes: porous, eroded stone formations stood in for fragmented reef and coastal cliff, while the curling lines of Allium sativum ophioscorodon and Balloon Plant moved like algae and floating stems. Moss balls sat still as sponge colonies. Nets, rope, and sand ran through it all: not as decoration, but as texture pulled straight from the coastline itself.
The result was controlled wildness: land materials doing the work of an underwater world, staged against a techno soundtrack and the Adriatic just beyond the tables.
